Veisiejų dvaro sodyba ir miestelis

LTKPD Alytaus teritorinis padalinys, aptikus archeologinių radinių Veisiejų miestelio (Lazdijų r.) istorinės dalies teritorijoje, elektros oro linijų keitimo į požeminius kabelius vietose, sustabdė darbus ir 2008 m. kovo 31 d. kreipėsi dėl kultūros paveldo objekto vertingųjų savybių nustatymo. 2008 m. balandžio 3 d. žvalgant iškastas tranšėjas elektros kabelių paklojimui (apie 70–75 cm gylio, 40–45 cm pločio; prie Veisiejų dvaro rūmų fligelio – iki 65 cm), kurių didžioji dalis jau buvo užlyginta, išaiškintos kelios archeologinių dirbinių radimvietės [p. 227].

ENIn April 2008, a field survey was conducted along the route of an electric cable that was being laid at the site of Veisiejai manor (Lazdijai District). Fragments of masonry walls were discovered at four findspots and roof tile fragments, stove tile fragments, potsherds, and other isolated finds were collected. Four test pits (a total area of 8 m2) were excavated on Vytauto Street in the Old Town and an Old Town cultural layer up to 50 cm thick was discovered. Wheel thrown pottery decorated with curved and parallel line designs was discovered in the lower horizon and plain pottery in the upper. The finds date to the 16th–19th centuries.
