Senkapis Verkių dvaro sodybos teritorijoje

LT2008 m. APC ,,Antiqua“ tęsė archeologinius tyrinėjimus Verkių dvaro sodybos (Vilniaus mietas, unikalus objekto kodas 756) teritorijoje. Tyrinėjimai buvo atliekami prieš pradedant vykdyti ,,Verkių dvaro sodybos viršutinio parko (G230K30) takų, mažųjų architektūros statinių ir tiltelio remonto bei rekonstrukcijos techninį projektą“. 2007 m. čia atlikti žvalgomieji archeologiniai tyrinėjimai (vadovas L. Girlevičius) parodė, kad didelę parko teritoriją tikslinga tirti didesniais plotais (ATL 2007 metais, V., 2008, p. 248–251). 2008 m. archeologinių tyrinėjimų metu iškasta 12 plotų (1–12) – iš viso 157 m² [p. 171].

ENDuring an excavation in 2008, 157 m2 was excavated in the upper park at the Verkiai manor house. 11 inhumations were discovered in the NW part of the park. Abundant grave goods were found in burials 11–12. The ornaments that were found (a chaplet, a brooch, rings, and bracelets) are identical to ornaments found at Kernavė-Kriveikiškiai old cemetery. It was determined that the individuals were buried on the park grounds in the late(?) 13th–14th century. In area 7, the foundation of a 19th-century park masonry wall was unearthed and in area 11 a fragment of the foundation of the rotunda – observation deck built in around 1850. It was determined during the excavation of area 12 that the hill had been created artificially from fill soil that contained 17th–19th-century finds.
