Bandužių (Žardės) neįtvirtinta gyvenvietė

LTBRIAI 2008 m. vykdė archeologinius tyrinėjimus Klaipėdoje, sklype Jūrininkų prospekte 35, 37 (tyrimų vadovė Audronė Bliujienė). Pagal projektą šioje teritorijoje numatyta įrengti sunkvežimių stovėjimo aikštelę. Remiantis gretimo sklypo 2006 m. archeologinių tyrinėjimų duomenimis (Jūrininkų prospektas 25, 27), (žr. ATL 2006 metais, V., 2007, p. 74–83) buvo nustatytos preliminarios Bandužių (Žardės) neįtvirtintos gyvenvietės ribos. Kadangi sklypas patenka į šios gyvenvietės saugomą teritoriją, tai tyrimais siekta išsiaiškinti, ar šiuose sklypuose yra išlikę archeologiškai vertingų struktūrų. Pastaroji gyvenvietė siejama su Žardės–Bandužių archeologiniu kompleksu, kuriam dar priklauso Žardės piliakalnis su gyvenviete, 3 Žardės neįtvirtintos gyvenvietės (I-III), 2 Bandužių neįtvirtintos gyvenvietės (I-II) ir Bandužių kapinynas [p. 40].

ENIn 2008 an excavation (a total area of 1,6 ha) was conducted on the plot at Jūrininkų Avenue 35, 37, Klaipėda. An unenclosed settlement attributed to the Žardė hillfort and settlement complex was discovered here. The structures attributed to the unenclosed settlement were arranged evenly throughout the area. 235 pits with various purposes and hearths, some of which had been destroyed during later domestic activities, were discovered during the investigation. It is possible to connect some of the objects with iron extraction. Several hundred hand built pottery sherds with smooth, brushed, rough, and grainy surfaces, perforated ware and corded ware fragments, and a crucible were collected during the excavation. Some pits contained unprocessed amber, pieces of knapped flint, and animal bones while the ploughed layer contained pieces of slag and cinders. The settlement’s chronology is very broad. The initial analysis of the pottery and the results of the 2006 radiocarbon (C14) tests on the excavated structures show that the activities occurred during the 1st millennium BC – early 2nd millennium. One can only conclude that on the basis of the discovered corded ware fragments, a Late Neolithic and Bronze Age settlement must have existed nearby.
