Molavėnų piliakalnių kompleksas

LTArcheologiniai tyrinėjimai Molavėnų piliakalnių komplekse (Raseinių r., Nemakščių sen.) vykdyti 2 etapais – 2009 m. gegužės mėnesį, rengiant Molavėnų piliakalnių komplekso išsaugojimo ir pritaikymo lankymui techninį projektą, bei 2009 m. spalio mėnesį jį įgyvendinant. Tyrinėjimus vykdė KPIP. Tyrinėta perkasomis ir šurfais. Žvalgymai vykdyti visų būsimųjų žemės darbų vietose, žvalgyta vizualiai bei metalo detektoriumi. [Iš teksto, p. 45]

ENIn 2009 the KPIP conducted an excavation of the Molavėnai hillfort complex (Samogitia, Raseiniai District). A total of 30 m2 was excavated at the Molavėnai (Griaužai) hillfort site (Kauprės). A mid-1stmillennium cultural layer up to 60 cm thick, several iron slag fragments, and several sherds of pottery with rough surfaces were discovered at the fortified settlement site. A compacted 3.3 m thick layer of clay was discovered at the highest point of the hillfort site. At the places excavated at the Molavėnai (Griaužai) hillfort site, fragments of partly thrown ceramics decorated with a wavy line were discovered. 230 fieldstones of almost the same size (1.5–3 kg), some of which had been split, were collected in an area of about 5 m2 in the middle of the second exterior ditch. The stones had probably been used for throwing. No cultural layer was found in the vicinity of the hillfort site. A total of 226 m2 were excavated in 2009.
