ENThe ability to perform a musical piece on stage causes many concerns to music teachers or musicians of different age. The result of learning a piece gives importance and expresses the artistic talent of both an experienced musician and a student-beginner. The performance ofa musical piece in a concert still remains a relevant issue among the musicians of different age as well as their teachers. However, this problem is especially important for young musicians whose ability to regulate the on-stage behaviour by means of mental self-control is rather limited. The research results show that modelling the learning of a musical text has a significant influence on the performance of the musical piece on stage. Such type oflearning is determined by the attitudes towards learning a musical piece that are developed during the educational interrelation ofthe student and teacher and are inevitably influenced by the student’s individual abilities to concentrate attention, remember, and maintain motivation. Only by being able to envisage the individuality of these features in a student, the teacher can focus the modelling of a musical piece and in this way create objective preconditions for a successful on-stage performance. The artistic on-stage performance of a musical piece and psychological state of the musician are closely interrelated. Accidental mistakes in the musical text that occur during a concert affect the musician's emotions during and after the concert: they have a negative impact on the student resulting in the lack of self-confidence or even stage-fright.For this reason, in the process oflearning, the teachers find it important to predict the reasons which may affect the young musician and to attempt to reduce them to minimum in advance. Striving for excellence is related to self-criticism and adequate self-evaluation. While watching on-stage performances of their students, every teacher must be able to critically assess their own skills in preparing them for concerts. In this respect, the on-stage experience is important not only for the student - performer, but also the teacher - observer. Insufficient value given to the psychological preparedness and rather frequent inability to objectively assess the students’ psychological state before they go on-stage are the main shortfalls of the work done by teachers in developing students' psychological self-control skills. The on-stage performance of a musical piece is the result of many objective and subjective factors present in the learning process of the piece. Only constant development of skills in concentrating attention and remembering the musical text as well as high motivation for learning and supervision of a professional teacher will enable young musicians to improve their performance on stage and transform it into the space for individual artistic expression.
