ENWhat is the origin of philosophy? What is the origin of ancient wisdom? These questions were raised by two modern thinkers: M. Heidegger and G. Colli. Colli focuses his attention on ancient divinity. Wisdom is born in the mystical and cryptic pronouncements of Apollo's oracle. Here the god speaks through the lips of man. The god creates an enigma, thus giving an impulse to primordial thinking. Enigma indicates the field of divinity and the foundation of wisdom. Heidegger, on the other hand, also interprets the pre-Socratic thinkers and discovers a close relationship between enigma and genuine Greek thinking. Although rejecting its religious foundation, Heidegger introduces some mystical and spiritual elements. The most important of these are his attempts to question (which structure corresponds to the structure of prayer) and to poeticize (which expresses an authentic and respectful attitude toward reality, an attitude which encompasses a spiritual point of approach). Thus, both of these thinkers discover that the origin of primordial wisdom lies in the mystical sources of religion.
