Daugėlaičių neįtvirtinta gyvenvietė I

LT2016 m. buvo tęsiami kairiajame Kulpės krante, ant Daugėlaičių ir Norkūnų kaimų ribos (Šiaulių r., Meškuičių sen.) esančios gyvenvietės I tyrimai (žr. ATL 2014 metais, 2015, p. 146– 153; ATL 2015 metais, 2016, p. 192–198). Birželio 5–18 d., bendradarbiaujant su Naisių bendruomene, surengta ekspedicija buvo mokomojo pobūdžio, joje dalyvavo Naisių mokyklos, Kužių ir Meškuičių gimnazijų moksleiviai, taip pat VU studentai archeologai ir kiti savanoriai. Radiniai perduoti į ŠAM. 2014–2015 m. pradėtas tirti 4x4 m (16 m2 ) plotas buvo praplėstas 2 m į Š ir paverstas 6x4 m (24 m2 ) perkasa. Taip siekta užfiksuoti 2014 m. aptiktos akmenų krūsnies Š kraštą, perpjauti šią archeologinę struktūrą ir patikslinti duomenis apie jos kilmę, pobūdį ir paskirtį. Taikyta ankstesnių metų metodika: žemės paviršius buvo drėkinamas, preparuojama mentelėmis, naudojami metalo ieškikliai, gruntas plaunamas; tam skirtos keturios savadarbės plovyklės su 3x3 mm tankio sietais ir benzininis vandens siurblys Honda WB20, stovėjęs Kulpės pakrantėje. ENIn 2016, the investigation of Daugėlaičiai (Šiauliai district) settlement I was continued with the extension of the 4 x 4 m (16 m2 ) area excavated during 2014–2015 into a 6 x 4 m (24 m2 ) one. The stone cairn, which was the biggest structure of the upper horizon of the settlement’s cultural layer, was AMS radiocarbon dated to the second half of the 7th–8th centuries. Charcoal, animal bones, and sherds of hand built pottery with smooth surfaces and nail impressions were discovered on top of, among, and under splinters of burnt stone. Under the cairn lay the lower horizon of the cultural layer, a layer of grey sandy loam with no finds but with 34 postholes that were 5–17 cm in diameter and 4–37 cm deep. A stone-lined hearth (pit II) filled with grey soil containing isolated pieces of charcoal was discovered among the postholes. During 2014–2016, a total of 5 whetstones, 3 handstones, a stone net weight, an iron crookshaped pin, part of a small knife, 2 bronze coil beads, a small loop, and some other small finds as well as 6013 (5306 g) sherds of hand built pottery with rough, smooth, and pinched-impressed surfaces, 54 (231 g) sherds of hand thrown pottery, 10 376 (10 968.4 g) fragments of clay daub, 4469 (4316.3 g) animal bones, and isolated fish scales were discovered in area 1.
