New narratives, traditional values and national cultural distinction: reimagining Baltic identity

ENWith the start of the Great Depression of the 21st century followed by uneasy trials there comes a new need for identity and nationality gradually regains its lost positions. The world is creating its self-defense mechanism in the conditions of globalization, cosmopolitism and unification in times of universal indifference and total disorientation when values are lost and identity leveled. It is obvious that nationality dimension shifted, it became not only communal but also personal mark, modern significant position, integrating factor or illusion saying that even in times of pragmatic spiritual downfall it is possible to revive “lost” traditions, exceptional rights or at least romantic tempers. Nationality seek, modeled as if in a classical situational comedy, discloses important aspects of values and invokes various insinuations, encourages individual expression, search for identity with avoidance of aggressive or even dangerous forms and simultaneously arises actual questions of the present day: what kind of are we, what are we going to be and what is waiting for us in future ?.
