Sudėti gyvenimo mozaiką: mokytojas, rašytojas, mokslininkas, vertėjas Juozas Tininis

LTŠiuo metu daug dėmesio skiriama išeivijai ir ten kūrusiems žmonėms, bet nemaža dalis kūrėjų yra primiršti, nors tam tikru savo gyvenimo ir kūrybos metu apie juos žinota net keliuose kontinentuose. Dalis iš jų Lietuvoje nėra plačiai žinomi. Keičiantis kartoms, jie tiesiog grimzta į nebūtį. Todėl šiuo metu svarbu aktualizuoti archyvinį egzilio kūrėjų palikimą. Vienas šio sprendimo būdų – kūrybinio palikimo sklaida. Pranešime siekiama aptarti kai kuriuos J. Tininio archyvo, gauto 1993 m., aspektus. ENThe paper discusses the life of the emigrant writer, translator Juozas Tininis, who originated from Rokiškis region. Juozas Tininis (1907–1971) is an emigrant creator who communicated with other eminent emigrant creators: B. Brazdžionis, A. Rūkštelė, D. Mitkienė, M. Gimbutienė, Alė Rūta, and others. In 1944, when the Russian terror returned, J. Tininis emigrated to Germany, later in 1949, he emigrated from Germany to Australia, where he spent five years until 1954. In 1954, from Australia he emigrated to the USA and settled in Los Angeles. In the USA he spent all his life until his death on August 2, 1971. In the USA he published three of his books: in 1957, a collection of short stories “Sužadėtinė/Fiancee” and in 1970, a novel “Dailininko žmona/Artist’s Wife”. Another huge work, which was done by J. Tininis together with the translator N. Rastenis is the translation of “Anykščių šilelis/The Forest of Anykščiai”, published in1966. The translated work was published in 1970 by a publishing house Lietuvių dienos. J. Tininis was the language editor who also wrote an introduction to this translation. In 1971, he published the collection of short stories “Nuskandintas žiedas/A Drowned Ring”.On August 2, 1971 he was killed in a car crash, 200 miles from the city of Los Angeles. After his death, commemorating the second anniversary of his death, in 1973, the publishing house of the magazine “Lietuvių dienos/Lithuanian Days” published his book “Laiškai Andromachai/Letters to Andromacha”, which included the love novel written by the author all his life in the form of letters as well as the translations of foreign authors (A. Gustas, S. Naidu, R. Tagorė and others). In emigration, he fiercely criticized the communist regime in his articles. He wrote many articles on religion, where he regards religiosity as a fundamental virtue. For several years, J. Tininis worked at the University of California (UCLA). He taught Lithuanian at the Indo-European Language Faculty. He was one of the founders and a member of the Fine Arts Club until his death. After the death of the author, his written legacy was preserved by his friend poet B. Brazdžionis. After the restoration of Independence, his written legacy is preserved in Rokiškis Area Museum.
