Šimtmečio sensacija - 1848 m. Rokiškio grafystės žemėlapis
ENIn the collections of Rokiškis Regional Museum there is a unique exhibit – the map of Rokiškis County, published in July 1, 1848. It was drawn by surveyor Mykolas Skinderis. The map was very detailed: the land of various purposes, different forests, ponds, roads, borders of farm estates, villages and farms were mapped in it. The map, which soon will be 170 years old, was given to the museum by a scientist Antanas Ražinskas, countryman who lived in Kaunas. When it appeared in our collections it was rather “tired”. The map needed to be restored. Restorers of Graphic Department of Pranas Gudynas Restoration Centre Eglė Virpilaitienė, Eglė Piščikaitė, and Paulius Zovė undertook this job. After the restoration, framing and glazing, the map is exhibited on the whole wall of the hall and attracts the visitors’ attention. The map is interesting not only for historians or cartographers but also for specialists of other science fields.
