Summary / Abstract:

LTPristatydami seno ir nepaprastai įdomaus dvaro pusės tūkstantmečio istoriją, siekėme, kad žmonės atrastų dar vieną svarbią Lietuvos kultūros mozaikos dalelę. Istoriniai tyrimai, Lietuvos ir Lenkijos archyvuose aptikta medžiaga praskleidė paslapties šydą – atradome Liubavo savininkų vardus, kurie iki šiol nebuvo sieti su šiuo dvaru. Netoli Vilniaus esantis Liubavo dvaras iki XVI a. vid. priklausė Lietuvos didiesiems kunigaikščiams. Lietuvos ir Lenkijos valdovas Žygimantas Augustas šią valdą paveldėjo iš savo tėvo Žygimanto Senojo. Jau 1546 m. Lietuvos valdovo Žygimanto Augusto dvaro iždo knygoje detaliai aprašyti tuo metu tvarkyti Liubavo tvenkiniai. Liubavo dvarą per pusės tūkstantmečio istoriją valdė Lietuvos politinio, kultūros ir dvasininkijos elito atstovai. Liubavo savininkai buvo šalies didieji kunigaikščiai Mikalojus Radvila Rudasis, Golejevskiai, Krišpinai-Kiršenšteinai, Teresė Tyzenhauzaitė, Tiškevičių ir Slizienių šeimos. Pirmasis iš Slizienių Liubave gyveno talentingas XIX a. Lietuvos skulptorius Rapolas Slizienis [p. 48].

ENEuropos Parkas – one of the first cultural NGOs in Lithuania – since 1993 has been working in the field of contemporary art and has created a world known open-air art museum. This new generation museum takes care of financing of all the museum activities and that is a great challenge. Implementation of the Restoration of Liubavas Manor Watermill and its Adaptation to Cultural and Public Needs project has become possible because of a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Financial Mechanism and co-financing by the Republic of Lithuania. The aim of the project was to restore the mill with all its technological equipment and to create a museum inside for the public. Introducing to the public a little explored, old and incredibly interesting Liubavas Manor near Vilnius, we wish people to discover yet another important piece of the Lithuanian cultural mosaic. The material found in the Lithuanian and Polish archives has lifted the historic veil from the manor. The reconstruction of the ponds at Liubavas Manor is mentioned back in 1546, in the treasury books of the Grand Duke of Lithuania and King of Poland Sigismund Augustus. In its five hundred years history Liubavas Manor saw the owners representing the Lithuanian political, clergy and cultural elite, including famous sculptor Rapolas Slizienis (Rafał Slizień).Among important discoveries I’d like to mention a painting of Liubavas Manor, an armorial portiere of tribunal marshal of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania Steponas Slizienis (Stefan Slizień, 1705) and the original watercolour layout of the manor (1857). An authentic desk, a mirror, some porcelain wares, candlesticks of the chapel are displayed in Liubavas Museum. The cleaved stone watermill built in 1902 with the ornate red-brick moulding represents technical heritage. The former miller’s room is turned into a visitor centre, and the production premises expose reconstructed milling, sifting and other equipment. The exhibition introduces architecture, arts, the interwar period manor residents, millers, technological equipment and processes. When restoring Liubavas Manor watermill, we sought to retain its authentic details and to use building materials of that time, to preserve its initial atmosphere and consistently integrate new adjustment elements into its entirety. For this, we spent long hours examining various marks left by the technological equipment on the mill’s walls and floors trying to understand its specifics. In the course of the project, the seminar for heritage specialists was organised as well as several publications were prepared and issued, including a book (G. Karosas. Liubavas, Vilnius, 2010). The project also included the creation of the interactive website www.liubavas.lt.
