LTŠio straipsnio tikslas – remiantis sukauptu institucijos įdirbiu ir pateikiant charakteringiausius pavyzdžius, pristatyti Valdovų rūmų muziejaus kultūrinės veiklos linkmes bei formas; pasidalyti įgyta patirtimi, kultūrinės komunikacijos būdu siekiant „prakalbinti“ Lietuvos istoriją ir kultūros paveldą, užmegzti produktyvų ir patrauklų dialogą tarp mokslininkų, kultūros paveldo specialistų, muziejininkų ir visuomenės [p. 16].

ENA museum is a cultural phenomenon of mankind, the functions and contents of which are undergoing changes. The key mission to collect, restore and research archaeological, historical heritage as well as values of art are being expanded by new aspects. Museum of the 21st century is a dynamic space for cultural and social communication, where history and cultural heritage are presented in an attractive way: historical culture is developed via active dialogue with society. The article deals with the trends and forms of cultural activities of the National Museum Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania by summarising the activities of the above institution established in 2009. Priority is given to making the development of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and its rulers’ residence as well as the publications of museum collections topicalities, including scientific studies, historical sources, presentations of exhibition catalogues; cultural events dedicated to historical dates and personalities; public lectures by museum experts and other Lithuanian and foreign scientists. “The Programme of Presenting Royal Palaces of European States” is being developed.Special trend is popularisation of musical and other intangible cultural heritage of Lithuania and Europe. Concerts, specialists’ discussions, theatre performances are being organized. The autumn season is started by annual concerts of the early music and international projects dedicated to the Opera birthday in Lithuania. The calendar of other events is also formed following the historical facts, namely, “Shrove Tuesday in the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania”, “ Day of Historical Dance in the Residence”, cycle of Christmas concerts, etc. International scientific conferences are accompanied by adequate cultural programmes, while meetings with scientists, cycles of lectures and concerts enrich exhibitions in both information and artistic aspects. Genre diversity of the events offered during “The Museum Night” and “The Night of Culture” gathers thousands of visitors to the residence of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania witnessing the attractiveness of the museum and highlighting the perspectives of its cultural activities.
