LTStraipsnyje analizuojami empirinio tyrimo rezultatai, leidę identifikuoti studijuojančiųjų poreikius e. studijoms Lietuvos aukštosiose mokyklose. E. studijos tampa ypač svarbios didesnei visuomenės daliai tobulinant savo žinias, įgūdžius, įgyjant išsilavinimą, profesinę kvalifikaciją, atitinkančią šiuolaikinį technologijų, kultūros bei asmeninių gebėjimų lygį ir sudarant sąlygas mokytis visą gyvenimą. Šią tendenciją atliepiančios aukštosios mokyklos nuosekliai plėtoja e. studijas, siūlydamos studijuoti atskirus studijų programų dalykus, kvalifikacijos tobulinimo ir kitus kursus suaugusiems. Tyrimo rezultatai leidžia teigti, kad dauguma studentų turi poreikį e. studijoms ir ateityje šis poreikis augs. Studentams aktualu studijuojant derinti darbą, šeimą ir studijas, mokytis patogiu laiku, patogioje vietoje, individualiai priimtinu būdu, nuotolinio mokymosi turinį pasiekti įvairiomis IT priemonėmis ir naudoti įvairiomis formomis – skaitymui, klausymui, žiūrėjimui, gauti grįžtamąjį ryšį. Tačiau tiek moksliniame diskurse, tiek tyrimo rezultatuose matyti, kad e. studijos ir mokymasis pasižymi ne tik teigiamomis savybėmis, bet ir tam tikromis grėsmėmis – tiesioginio bendravimo su dėstytoju ir kitais besimokančiaisiais trūkumu, mokymosi motyvacijos sumažėjimu, technologijų pažeidžiamumu, nepakankamu dėstytojų pasirengimu dirbti su nuotoliniais studentais ir kt. ENRapid technological development and penetration into diverse areas of life, increasing emigration rates and mobility of people, continuous need for qualification improvement to meet the demands of the digital age labour market, requires the search for unusual ways of teaching and learning, which allow the necessary competencies to be acquired conveniently, at the right place and at the right time, as quickly and qualitatively as possible. Lithuania is one of leading in terms of accessibility and quality of Internet in the world, but content of service is minimal on the Internet, especially for education. It is not clear whether higher education institutions of Lithuania meet the students' need for distance learning and how distance learning should be improved. The object of the article is students' needs for e-studies in higher education institutions. The aim of the article is to present results of research of students’ needs for e-studies in higher education institutions of Lithuania. In research context e-studies - a formal studies, which are organized remotely using information communication technologies (ICT). During the research questionnaire survey was conducted in electronic way, the respondents were 1015 students of Lithuanian higher education institutions.The main findings of the research showed that e-studies is becoming particularly important to help a person improve his/ her skills, gain education, professional qualifications, match modern technology, culture and personal skills, and create conditions for lifelong learning to meet the needs of cognition, to develop the new competencies needed for his/ her professional career and life meaningfulness. Students choose a distance or mixed form of study for the following mentioned reasons: allows to combine work, family and studies, to learn at a convenient time and in a convenient place, to save time and money. The main students' needs for e-studies are: the possibility to achieve the study content using different equipment such as laptops, smart phones, tablets and personal computers; application of study content for reading, watching and listening; systematic feedback; possibility to communicate with other students; to perform individual and group subject tasks and tests; possibility to combine the different activities; to study at a reasonable time. Despite the many benefits of e-studies, students identify such threats as a lack of direct communication with the teacher and other learners, the importance of motivation through distance learning, the vulnerability of technology and the inadequate readiness of teachers to provide such studies. Distance learning requires the following characteristics of learners, such as motivation, self-discipline and ability to plan the time. Keywords: e-studies, e-learning.
