ENThe manuscripts of Vilnius University Library contain the memoirs of Vilnius teacher, culture and public figure Antanas Krutulys about his childhood and school years at the Wymyślin (Poland) Teachers’ Seminary, written in 1979. A. Krutulys’ memoirs include the period of Lithuanian revival and his studies at the Wymyślin Teachers’ Seminary in Poland. In the seminary, where the language of instruction was Russian, and there were almost no Lithuanian students, he received his first musical education. Although A. Krutulys did not study teaching in the Lithuanian language anywhere, he successfully taught in his native language at an illegal Lithuanian school in Bubeliai, and after receiving a teacher’s diploma, in 1907-1914 he worked in Gintališkė and Gudžiūnai official schools. Since 1919 he lived in Vilnius, taught at Vytautas Magnus Gymnasium, Lithuanian Teachers’ Seminary, led Lithuanian choirs, and drama section of Lithuanian students. In 1936 – 1939 was the Art Director of Vilnius Lithuanian Artist Amateur Theatre. The memories of A. Krutulys also have historical cognitive value for the Seinai – Punskas region.
