A Concise history of Lithuanian minimalism

LTStraipsnyje aptariama lietuvių minimalizmo istorija. Minimalizmas Lietuvoje atsirado ne iš neribotos hipių laisvės ir jų kairuoliškų manifestų, kaip 7-ojo dešimtmečio Amerikoje ir Olandijoje. Tai nebuvo klubų ir garažų, o juolab - garso įrašų studijų reiškinys, kuriame dalyvautų džiazo ir roko improvizacijas mėgstantys ir dažnai neprofesionalūs muzikantai, susižavėję indiška ir afrikietiška muzika. 8-ojo dešimtmečio pabaigos lietuviškąjį minimalizmą kūrė akademiniai kompozitoriai, jį pasirinkę kaip savaip įteisintą - ne Lietuvoje - rafinuotą estetiką ir technologiją, leidžiančią specifiškoje terpėje inkorporuoti ir sulydyti labai įvairios prigimties komponentus - nuo elementarios diatonikos iki kompleksinių multidimensinių struktūrų. Minimalizmas padarė didelę įtaką XX a. pabaigos lietuvių muzikai. Vienais atvejais jis sugrąžino klausytojus į šiuolaikinės muzikos koncertus (B. Kutavičiaus, A. Martinaičio, V. Bartulio kūriniai pelnė didelį pripažinimą), kitais atvejais sudarė prielaidas naujų individualių stilių atsiradimui ir tolesnei evoliucijai. Įdomu tai, kad XXI a. pradžioje nėra jokių ženklų, pranašaujančių lietuvių minimalizmo pabaigą: atvirkščiai, daugelis kompozitorių, kada nors susijusių su šiuo stilium, vienokiais ar kitokiais būdais tebesinaudoja minimalizmo idėjomis, dažniausiai transformuotomis ir praturtintomis nauja patirtimi. Atrodo, kad racionalusis kartojamų modelių struktūralizmas, apsukęs ne vieną ratą, dar nėra atskleidęs visų galimybių ir nuolatos atsinaujina.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Minimalizmas; Muzika; Komunizmas; Minimalism; Music; Communism.

ENThe history of Lithuanian Minimalism is discussed in this article. Minimalism did not appear in Lithuania as a result of a boundless hippy freedom and its left-leaning manifestos, as in the US and the Netherlands in the 1960s. This was not a club or garage phenomenon, and had even less to do with recording studios, where musicians that liked jazz and rock improvisation were often not professionals, and who were fascinated with Indian and African music. Academic composers created Lithuanian Minimalism at the end of the 1970s, choosing it as a refined aesthetic and technology that was legitimate in its own way (though not in Lithuania), and which allowed components of a very varied nature to be incorporated and fused together in a specific medium, from elementary diatonics to complex multi-dimensional structures. Minimalism had a huge impact on Lithuanian music of the end of the 20th century. In some cases it brought listeners back to contemporary music concerts (the works of B. Kutavičius, A. Martinaitis, and V. Bartulis merited much recognition), while in other cases it created the conditions for the appearance of new individual styles and their further evolution. It is interesting to note, that at the beginning of the 21st century, there are no signs that signal the end of Lithuanian Minimalism: on the contrary, many composers, who have at some point been connected with this style, still use the ideas of Minimalism in one way or another, often ideas transformed and enriched with new experiences. It seems that rational structuralism of repeated models, having made a number of rounds, still have not revealed all the possibilities and are constantly renewing themselves.
