LTStraipsnyje aptariama amžiui draugiško būsto samprata, tarptautinė patirtis kuriant amžiui draugišką būstą, vertinant esamą būstą, jo atitikimą draugiško būsto sampratai ir galimybės turėti amžiui draugišką būstą Lietuvoje. Senėjant visuomenei reikia užtikrinti produktyvios visuomenės narių, ypač vyresnio amžiaus asmenų, sveiką nepriklausomą senėjimą. Amžiui draugiška aplinka, o ypač gyvenamoji aplinka, sukuria galimybes žmonėms iki gilios senatvės gyventi savo namuose. Namuose senėti galima ir tada, kai silpsta sveikata, iškyla priežiūros poreikių, tačiau namai turi būti tinkami kintantiems vyresnio amžiaus žmonių poreikiams. ENAs society ages, it is necessary to ensure healthy independent aging for members of a productive s ociety, especially the elderly. An age friendly environment, and especially a living environment, creates opportunities for people to live in their own homes until deep old age. Aging is also possible at home when health is deteriorating and care needs ari se, but homes need to adapt to the changing needs of older people. The aim is to discuss the conce pt of age friendly housing, to analyse the current situation and devel opment opportunities in Lithuania. Methods used in the work systematic analysis of inf ormation sources. The key statements about age friendly housing are based on an analysis by the Wo rld Health Organization’s guides to healthy aging, as well as the role of the community in the process of healthy aging. People want to stay living in their u sual environment. Therefore, housing, outdoor spaces and community services should be adapted to t he needs of an aging population. An age friendly environment promotes active and healthy aging by optimizing health, promoting engagement, and enabling well b eing in old age. Aging at home is possible when the home is adapted to the changing needs of older people. Much of the housing stock in the European region and around t he world has not been tailored to the needs of older people in terms of security, access ibility, location, and independence. There are no conditions for the development of age friendly h ousing in Lithuania yet. To improve the quality of newly built and mod ernized buildings, a comfortable and attractive environment for the elderly, first of al l, the legal framework of the Republic of Lithuania should be adjusted.Healthy aging involves not only the health sector, but also the whole environment of the elderly , so the importance of friendly housing is enormous. In Europe, there are many examples and educational guides on how to create age friendly housing, but first and foremost there is a ne ed to realize the need and seize the opportunities.
