ENDiscussion of the monograph by mythology researcher Daiva Vaitkevičienė. Žydinti taurė. Baltų gėrimai ir apeigos (Vilnius, 2019). The reviewer focuses on one of the main themes of the book - a historical and mythological reconstruction of Lithuanian beer and mead. The book reveals the technology of beer and mead production, the social role of these beverages, the symbols and ceremonies surrounding their production, and the even deeper layers of the old worldview. The review, in discussing the monograph, also explores other sources that reveal the history of these beverages in Lithuania.
