ENThe article seeks to disclose the main aspect of women trafficking in social work in Lithuania. The first part of the article introduces and analyses legal aspects of women trafficking, possible prevention, and present situation of such phenomenon. The second part of the article discusses activities of various institutions, discloses the importance of cooperation and coordination for solving this problem, and stresses the role of nongovernmental organisations. The author notices that victims of women trafficking may belong to various social classes, however, higher probability to be engaged in women trafficking is for the girls from problem or rural places. Lithuanian government attempts to reduce the scope of women trafficking. Legal instruments and prevention programs allow fighting with women trafficking problems more efficiently. There might be a need to establish one special organisation in Lithuania where victims of women trafficking could get timely and complex help. According to the experience of seven European countries, this problem may be analysed from different attitudes and both differences and similarities between the states may be found. Experience discloses areas where the situation in Lithuania may be improved.
