Summary / Abstract:

LTBernardo Brazdžionio poezijoje matoma religinio santykio samprata skleidžiasi krikščionybės tradiciją tęsiančio ir varijuojančio neotomizmo orbitoje. Poetinis mąstymas ekspresyviais įvaizdžiais bei jų dariniais, intonavimo viražais pagyvina Dievo patirties vaizdą. Įtaigiausia religinio santykio interpretacija Brazdžionio eilėse išryškėja, kai implikuoto autoriaus suklūstama ties tikėjimo / žinojimo skirtimi, nurodant tikėjimo sampratoje glūdinčią subtilią neperžengiamą ribą tarp klausimo ir galimo atsakymo [p. 110].

ENThe expression of religion in Lithuania in the beginning of the 20th century is quite often defined as not conservative, neo-catholic, etc. This research aims at defining more explicitly the concept of Christian modernization from the perspective of the theological history of Church; in addition, the research analyzes a variant of Catholic world view observable in the poetry of Bernardas Brazdžionis by relating it to the context of modernization of Catholicism in the interwar Lithuania. The specificity of Christian modernization arises from the characteristic paradoxical flow of thought in two supposedly opposite directions. From the theological perspective, the tension between conservatism and modernization (the content of which is continually changing) is observed not between "conservative" and "progressive" layers, but rather in every attempt of the Church to renew. Throwback in this case is a method of renewal. The 20th century Christian beliefs are characterized by intensive strive for the renewal that articulates problematic human issues. The author refers to the studies of patristic, existentialism, personality, intuitivism. The dispersal of Western Catholic ideas in interwar has been determined by university ties and freely accessible literature. Ideologists of renewal of Catholicism stressed participation of Christianity in modern culture, the life of a modern man, the application of religious world view not only for explanations of human relationships with transcendence but also for interpretations of earthly conditions of human life. The concept of religious relationship in Bernardas Brazdžionis' poetry spreads in the orbit of neo-Thomism that keeps Christian tradition and varies. Poetical thinking enlivens the view of Godly experience through expressive images, their formations, and intonating turns. The most suggestive interpretation of religious relationship in the lyrics of Brazdžionis is especially highlighted when the implied author focuses on the distinction between belief and knowing and refers to the subtle indefeasible line between a question and possible answer that lies deep in understanding of a belief.
