De profundis
EN“De Profundis” is one of the best known poems by Bernardas Brazdžionis. In this poet's creation everything comes from the profoundness of the most common archetypes of the collective subconscious. This is the way for the nation's communal genius to speak through its poet as if he were a medium. Analytical psychology has revealed that black profoundness of the spirit usually makes one fear; but, when the way of soundness and harmony is chosen, it provides impetus for great and bright transformations, and, when one gets free from freedom locking chains he regains potency to live passionately and joyfully. The poet was endowed with the rare inward potency, an inborn feel, to take the highest notes without the least slip. Therefore it is not unsurprising that in the time of the Singing Revolution the young generation of rockers sang the songs created by the great bard of the deportees' generation as if these songs were their own.
