ENThe author of the article maintains that the profound sources of Bernardas Brazdžionis poetry are emotiveness, psychological analysis, and strive for the universal artistic synthesis that spread in the first part of the 20th century. In the 20th century, Lithuanian poetry went a long way toward a growing psychological and emotional richness; Brazdžionis also took this path in his own search of an original way. The originality of his poetry was influenced by the multi-faceted synthesis that characterized the whole Lithuanian culture of that time. The author focuses on the analysis of the synthesis of ideas. Brazdžionis' poetry is characterized by synthesis of traditions and novelties. He enriched the traditional classical poetry with the experience of modern poetry (mostly neo-romantic and symbolism). The transcendental view of the world - that is characteristic of neo-romantic and symbolism poetry - was linked by him with the Christian ideology, mostly Christology, and that allowed him to turn the rational belief into an intimate experience. Brazdžionis blended the Christian (Catholic) ideology with the national (patriotic) ideology, the Lithuanian identity with the Christian identity, and synthesized Lithuanian imagery attributes with the Oriental attributes of Scripture. The Christian God in Brazdžionis' lyrics shelters the whole Lithuania - its entire historical way: the past, the presence, and the future. Therefore, there is no contradiction here between the pagan and Christian Lithuania that characterized the former, especially the 19h century, Lithuanian culture. On the one hand, the lyrics blend Lithuanian and Oriental motifs; on the other hand, pagan and Christian elements are blended with the Lithuanian motifs. The universal idea of Brazdžionis' lyrics that combines the concepts of God, Motherland, Man, and Humanity gives a sense to this whole blend.
