ENThe study is devoted to the study of the historical aspect of the formation of inheritance in Ukraine and to identify its connection with the regulation of inheritance relations in Lithuania and Poland. It is noted that the issues of European integration are not only to join the European Union, equal to other developed integrated member states, but also to preserve the identity of Ukrainian statehood and culture, which for centuries was influenced by many political, economic and social factors, in the legal regulation of hereditary relations. The author draws attention to the fact that the preservation of such identity is possible only if the main ideas and foundations that have been laid throughout the history of Ukraine as a state. At the same time, given that Lithuania and Poland, neighboring Ukraine, have already completed the process of integration into the European community, it was appropriate to study the historical development of inheritance in Ukraine given its intersection and the impact of legislation of the above states in regulating the transfer of rights and obligations. from the deceased to the successor. The scientific article provides a general description of certain norms of inheritance law of Ancient Rome, Kievan Rus, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Ukrainian Hetmanate, the Commonwealth, the Russian Empire, the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It is noted that currently the inheritance law of Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland has both different and common provisions, but exist completely independently of each other, and interaction between them occurs through the conclusion of bilateral or multilateral international agreements in the field of private law.
