ENIn the article the author does the attempt of reconstruction of the structure and contents of the Smolensk princely treaties of the fourteenth century, given the political events in Eastern Europe in the specified period. The fourteenth century is a time when a relatively untroubled existence of the Grand Duchy of Smolensk came to an end. The active foreign policy throughout the period of the Great Duchy of Lithuania and Grand Duchy of Moscow, no less interested in the new territorial acquisitions, eventually led to the elimination of the independence of the Smolensk land. The analysis of foreign policy documents of the era allows us to trace certain historical stages associated with the loss of independence of the Grand Duchy of Smolensk.
