ENThe article describes the meanings and connotations of Russian zoomorphism (the names of domestic animals) that are included in the lexical-semantic group ‘Human Characteristics’ and play an important role in the formation of the Russian linguistic worldview. Such words are frequent in daily language, artistic literature and journalism. Zoomorphism is used in different ways in literal and non-literal forms of the Russian language. Thus, there is homonymy of meanings. The results of the comparison of the Russian zoomorphism which is carried against the background of the Lithuanian language include examples of identity, intersection, lacunarity and non-identity of connotative meanings. Students’ written works identify characteristics of zoomorphism in the Russian language and show some peculiarities of using them in speech. [From the publication]
