Frazeoloģismi ar vārdu "piens"

ENThe word piens 'milk', related to ancient and significant economic branches as cattle-breeding and dairy, occurs in phraseological units rather frequently. The most of these phraseological units belong to the basic stock of stable word combinations in a language; respectively, they are met in both. Standard Latvian and regional sub-dialects. The article deals with phraseological units including word piens which are treated mainly under semantic aspect as well as compared to the corresponding phraseological units among closest neighboring nations. Comparisons including piens are quite widespread; many of them contain evidence about use of milk for health and beauty care, c. g. kā pienā mazgāts "like washed in milk" - they say about a pretty woman with pale skin. Moreover, a handsome and healthy person is referred to in the phraseological unit piens un asinis "milk and blood". Some phraseological units including piens are related to well-to-do, prosperous living, e. g. dzīvot kā sieram pienā "to live like cheese in milk", (zeme) kur piens un medus tek "(a land) where milk and honey flows". A constellation of phraseological units in Latvian and in languages of the closest neighboring nations reveals the fact that correspondence is found most often among Latvian, Russian and Lithuanian phraseological units, basing mainly on close economic and cultural relations in the course of many centuries as well as on similarity in associative way of thinking.
