Пра адзін з тыпаў узгоркавых свяцілішчаў

ENThe author of the article has been conducting the excavations at the hill sites near the villages of Sanniki (Diatlovo district) and Kryvsk (Smargon district) during the recent years. The common features of these sites are the presence of a round or oval plot of a relatively small diameter, the cut upper part of the slope for more steepness, almost complete absence of the cultural stratum and at the same time the presence of the humus layer of the saturated black colour along the borders of the plot (sometimes with the remains of the burnt wooden buildings), the existence of the legends about the location of a temple at this place that later collapsed under the ground. The site between the villages of Indrubka and Blikany (Ostrovets district) is typologically similar with the above-mentioned sites. Such sites are situated on the territory where at the beginning of the late Middle Ages there still was Baltic (that means pagan at that time) population. Such sites could not be either the place of a permanent settlement, nor the shelter (because of the absence of a strong enough ground fortification). There are grounds to think that these sites had the cultic meaning - they were the sanctuaries at the beginning of the late Middle Ages.
