Pasaulis ir bendrieji dėsniai pagal Malebranche‘ą

LTMalebranche‘as, siekdamas atskleisti sukurto pasaulio paskirtį, pirmiausia bando nusakyti, kokį vaidmenį jame vaidina bendrieji dėsniai. Todėl jis nagrinėja Descartes‘o penktąją „Samprotavimo apie metodą“ dalį, kurioje trumpai išdėstyta, kaip autorius „Traktate apie pasaulį“ (jis nebuvo išleistas sužinojus apie Galilėjaus pasmerkimą), aiškino pasaulio sukūrimą. Descartes‘as rašo, kad Dievas „iš pradžių pasauliui nedavęs kitos formos, o tik chaoso, bet, nustatęs gamtos dėsnius, paliko jį savaiminiam vystymuisi“. Vadinasi, iš bendrųjų judėjimo dėsnių būtų galima suprasti, kaip buvo sutvarkytas pirmykštis chaosas, t. y. tvarka nusistovi tarsi savaime, vien tik mechaniškai veikiant šiems dėsniams [Iš Įvado].

ENIn the article the purpose of the created world and its general laws according to Malebranche‘s understanding and interpretation are discussed. According to him, the purpose of minerals, plants and animals is to answer man‘s needs. The general purpose of man is to understand and adore God; his special divine purpose is to embody the Son of God. Malebranche treats this topic on the main parts of the world and their general functions relying on the fifth Cartesian Discourse on Method. In that discourse Descartes speaks about the functioning of mechanical laws. According to him, the first function of these laws is to put in order the primeval chaos; the second, to maintain the already established order. But Malebranche is not satisfied by such an unduly mechanistic explanation. He tries to enrich the Cartesian explanation by theological interpretations.
