The Means of elevation in ancient Egyptian and Neoplatonic rites

LTRemiantis antikos neoplatonikų (ypač Jamblicho) veikalais, išlikusiais kaip Chaldėjų orakulų fragmentai ir senovės Egipto tekstai, straipsnyje kalbama apie įvairius ritualinius transformacijos ir sielos pakėlimo būdus (pvz., siekiant jungties su noetiniais pradais), mitines-teologines ir metafizines jų prielaidas. Analizuojama legendiniam egiptiečių žyniui Bitysiui priskiriama visuotinio demiurginio Žodžio koncepcija, Ramesidų laikotarpio Amuno-Ra teologijos ypatumai, teurgijos ir magijos skyrimo problema (ypač vartojant terminą heka), „ugninio“ chaldėjų-neoplatonikų kosmoso sandara, simbolių ir sintemų svarba teurgijos ritualuose. Šitaip atskleidžiamas pamatinis vadinamųjų „galios žodžių“ (tapačių indų mantroms) bei regimųjų simbolių vaidmuo ir senovės egiptiečių šventyklų liturgijoje, ir chaldėjų pavyzdžiu sekančių neoplatonikų apeigose, kurios palyginamos su kai kuriais Indijos tantrizmo ir šaivizmo elementais.

ENThe paper deals with the theurgic rites of ascent (tantamount to the initiate s reintegration, unification, and deification) in the Chaldean-Neoplatonic and ancient Egyptian cultic milieu. The subject is viewed in the light of attestations provided by Iamblichus, by the pharaonic texts (e.g., the Book of the Dead), and the so-called Magical papyri. Thereby the descending and ascending paths of Heka arc discussed in relation to the theory of the all- embracing demiurgic and theurgic Name of God, attributed to Bitys, the legendary Hermetic prophet. In the context of the Ramesside theology of archetypal irradiation (cosmogony as theophany) and the exemplary constellation of bau-powers, the analogies between the ancient Egyptian liturgies and the Chaldean-Neoplatonic sotcriological rituals (as attested in the Chaldean Oracles and philosophical works by Iamblichus, Proclus, and Damascius) arc revealed and analyzed. The Neoplatonic path of the hieratic elevation (anagoge) may be traced back (albeit indirectly) to the pharaonic theology of Atum-Ra (or Amun-Ra) and to the Mesopotamian (Chaldean and Assyrian) rituals. At the same time, these theurgic rites arc analogous to certain Indian spiritual practices, especially those belonging to various traditions of Tantrism and Kashmir Shaivism.
