ENBased on iconological approach, this study analyses artworks by the Lite Jewish painters with an aim at distinguishing their specific features within the context of non-Jewish artistic heritage. The article seeks to establish, how modes of exploiting different motifs and themes in the Lite artists' oeuvre enabled revealing particular aspects of their Jewish identity. In addition to the analysis of artworks, the research also addresses narrative sources - artists' considerations about national art, letters, memoirs, and autobiographies.
