ENIn the process of globalization the problems of cultural heritage and its contemporary existence occur. The question “What is folk art?" becomes more and more urgent. The author of the article suggests the definition of folk art according to his own formula. Polk art is plastic creative work, existing in social life and developing outside the borders of professional art. There is no strict boundary between professional and folk art. The author suggests the lemt “contemporary folk art” and the system of classification in this context for the classification of the contemporary art. Folk art is an important component in maintaining national identity and mentality. [From the publication]
