ENHistory of the Libau (Liepaja)-Romny railway section No. 36, when the operation of the Kalkūni-Radviliškis line 3 km south of the Skapiškis town began, is discussed in the article. Initially this track section had no name, but when Liepaja was connected with Lentvaris-Romny railway line and the new administration of the Libau-Romny railway moved to Minsk, it was named Section No. 36. The first projects of broad-gauge railway laying to Skapiškis are discussed. Liepaja Railway Company and how it operated the railway is described. The railways in the Lithuanian area occupied during the war between Kaiser Germany and Russia are dealt with mention of strategic goals of Germany in Lithuania and its railways. Formation of railways in independent Lithuania after the World War I is reviewed. Statistics of commercial activities of the Skapiškis station and transportation of passengers by the broad-gauge lines are presented. The operation of the narrow-gauge railway between Skapiškis and Suvainiškis is also described. Situation of the Skapiškis railway under the Soviet occupation and the Skapiškis-Suvainiškis narrow-gauge line after the war front passed in 1944 is also depicted. [From the publication]
