LTRecenzijoje nagrinėjama vieno žymiausių lietuvių mitologijos tyrinėtojo G. Beresnevičiaus knyga “Eglė žalčių karalienė ir lietuvių teogoninis mitas”. ENThe review looks into the book by one of the most prominent Lithuanian mythology researcher G. Beresnevičius, Eglė žalčių karalienė ir lietuvių teogoninis mitas (Eng. Eglė the Queen of Grass-Snakes and the Lithuanian Teogonic Myth). The essay emphasizes the author’s inclination to balance between the essay style, which allows the introduction of hardly tangible euristic sensations into the text, and attempts to present a theoretical model, based on a certain scientific methodology. The review gives a detailed description of the author’s steps towards his goal to reveal the link of a teogonic myth and a fairy-tale. The reviewer comments in detail on the attempts of the author to introduce the object of the research - gods, to analyze their relationships, review folk motives, create schemes etc. There are numerous teogonic theories and the statements of their creators as well as results of the research. George Dumezil, Norbertas Vėlius, Vladimiras Toporovas, Algirdas Julius Greimas and others are mentioned. A lot of schemes that are created by G. Beresnevičius and which aim at relating the characters of the fairy-tale Eglė žalčių karalienė with the primal gods. The reviewer evaluates them critically. They are considered to be interesting and welcome attempts to look for alternatives but the results are too little reasoned and distanced from the reality; therefore, the reader may find them obscure and hard to understand.
