Lithuanian literary situation at the beginning of the 20th century

LTStraipsnio tikslas - apžvelgti 20 amžiaus pradžios literatūros situaciją Lietuvoje. Tuo metu lietuviams iškilo tautinės egzistencijos legalizavimo problema, pasireiškusi civilizuotos nacijos gimimu. Minėtu laikotarpiu ryškus modernizmo įsitvirtinimo lietuvių literatūroje procesas. Jaunosios kartos tikslas buvo ne stoti prieš literatūrą ir tradicijas, bet sukurti jas, sukurti klasikinio kanono pagrindus, kurie buvo prarasti. Toks estetinių normų kūrimo projektas, kūrį vykdė ateities profesionalai, išsilavinimą gavę užsienyje, buvo sudėtingas. To meto idealu, kaip alternatyva Maironiui, buvo laikomas poetas simbolistas J. Baltrušaitis, bet tuo metu jis kūrė tik rusiškai ir buvo toli Maskvoje. Lietuvoje tuo metu trūko kūrybingų inovatorių. Straipnyje yra pristatoma didelė dalis prie lietuvių literatūros modernizavimo prisidėjusių autorių. Tai pirmojo psichologinio romano “Blūdas” autorius J. Lindė-Dobilas, ieškoti kito savyje vengęs Čiurlionis, pirmojo kinomatografinės struktūros romano “Žemės giemė” autorius K. Puida, kaip kontrastas Maironiui atsiskleidęs B. Sruoga, simbolizmo ir impresionizmo pradininkai Lietuvoje M. Gustaitis, M. Šikšnys, J. Savickis, Ž. Žengė, S. Kymantaitė ir kt. ENThe purpose of the article is to review the position of literature at the beginning of the 20th century. At the time the problem of the legalisation of national existence emerged for the Lithuanian people, which manifested itself through the birth of a civilized nation. The process of the embedding of modernism in Lithuanian literature is vivid [21]during the period. The aim of the young generation was not to oppose literature and tradition, but to create them, and to create the basis for the classical canon which was lost. Such a project of creating aesthetical norms by the future professionals who gained their education abroad was a complex one. As an alternative to Maironis, the poet symbolist J. Baltrušaitis was regarded as an ideal of the period. However, at that time he wrote in the Russian language and lived in Moscow, and at that time there was a lack of creative innovators in Lithuania. The article introduces a large number of authors who contributed to the modernisation of Lithuanian literature: J. Lindė-Dobilas, the author of the first psychological novel “Blūdas”, Čiurlionis, who avoided searching for the other within oneself, K. Puida, the author of the first novel with a cinematographic structure “The Song of the Land”, B. Sruoga who unfolded as a contrast to Maironis, M. Gustaitis, M. Šikšnys, J. Savickis, Ž. Žengė, S. Kymantaitė, etc., who were the pioneers of symbolism and expressionism in Lithuania. The author also tries to reveal the influence of foreign modernists – Nietzsche, Andrejev, Meterlink – on Lithuanian literature.
