ENThe Lithuanian writings of Donelaitis relied on two sources: the colloquial speech of the "Lietuvininkas" (Lithuanians of Lithuania Minor) peasants and the tradition of Lithuanian writings. There is no doubt that Kristijonas Donelaitis, who in the years of studies and professional activity dealt with religious writings (the Bible, the Ritual, hymnals, prayer books, collections of sermons, etc.), was largely influenced by the contemporary devotional literature, and primarily, of course, by the Bible and hymnals.
