ENThe aim of the paper is to analyse the issues and development trends of sustainable development of regions in Lithuania with regard to the existing European Union investment policy in 2014–2020 and planned policies for 2021–2027. It is demonstrated that economic and social differences among the 10 regions (counties) in Lithuania are increasing. Vilnius County is characterised as having an exceptionally high level. Provision of statistical data from 2018 is going to be carried out according to two regions: a more developed Vilnius region and another region, encompassing the rest 9 counties. This will allow Lithuanian Government to negotiate with the European Commission so that EU financial investment would correspond to the level of the development of the two regions in Lithuania.
