ENStasys Usinskas is undoubtedly one of the most prominent figures in the history of Lithuanian art, establishing himself as a classic of modernism, fostering various branches of art: painting, stained glass, stage design, puppetry. In his works he established trends in avant-garde art and was one of the first in Lithuania to adapt the expressions of constructivism, cubism and art deco. His abundant works, which do not fit into the typical classification frameworks, reveal a versatile artist who transcends the boundaries of various fields of art, seeks a compositional whole and synthesis in a work of art, asserting an intellectual and rational beginning in creation and an active relationship with the living period. A large part of Ušinskas’ creative work has survived the occupation, and for generations the artist has been called their Master, direct or familiar from his works. New generations are still discovering this creator, still astonishing with his innovations and ambitions.
