Biržų apylinkių archeologiniai paminklai ir jų tyrimai

ENThe aim of the article is to present archaeological objects in Biržai district that were mentioned in the archaeological literature in the 19th century (1918–1940). At the moment, this would include the territory of Biržai town, Širvėna and Parovėja administrative districts. The author introduces the archeological monuments of the former Biržai district (the present Širvėna and Parovėja administrative districts), the history of their research and results of the research. The archeological objects date 1918–1940. The article is based on the published archaeological material at the beginning of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, the State Archaeological Commission files, archaeological research reports, receipts for the exhibits kept in Biržai Regional Museum “Sėla” funds, publications about archaeological objects in Biržai environs and the finds found there. There is presented and evaluated archaeological material available on the archaeological objects of Biržai environs.
