ENDedicated to the 90th anniversary of Donatas Sauka (1929-2015), laureate of the National Prize for Culture and Arts, literary critic, folklorist, demanding public critic, professor at Vilnius University. Attention is focused on literaturalogical studies: in writing about Lithuanian classics, D. Sauka, for his monographs, chose authors who today have appeared in the field of reception tensions or were not sufficiently included in this field - Salomėja Neris, Žemaitė, Jurgis Savickis. His inborn comparativist inclination led to his opus magnum - the impressive study Fausto amžiaus epilogas (1998), where European classics from the romantic "other side" are brought to this, relevant, side.
