ENThis paper is concerned with the sub-discipline of kitab studies1, which have been conducted at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland, and which were launched by Czeslaw Łapicz, the author of the monograph Kitab Tatarów litewsko-polskich (Paleografia. Grafia. Język) (1986). The paper is a synthesis of studies carried out within several research areas distinguished by Czeslaw Łapicz and Joanna Kulwicka-Kamińska during the work on the Tafsir project1 2 and discusses the translations rendered by the Tatars of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (hereinafter abbreviated to GDL).
