Klaipėdos (Memel) kraštas: nuo ištakų iki XVII amžiaus : paroda ir katalogas, skiriami Lietuvos valstybės šimtmečiui ir Europos kultūros paveldo metams 2018

LTKlaipėdos krašto proistorė ir ankstyvoji istorija yra mažai žinoma Europos kontekste, todėl 2018 m., pažymint Lietuvos valstybės šimtmetį ir Europos kultūros paveldo metus, siekiama aktualizuoti turtingą šio regiono archeologinį paveldą, mažai žinomų regionų savitumą, didinti jų matomumą Europos paveldo kontekste. Taigi savitos proistorės ir turtingos istorijos Klaipėdos kraštas tiksliai atspindi vieną iš 2018 m. Europos kultūros paveldo metų krypčių: Europos pasieniai ir kontaktų erdvės. [...] Šio projekto - parodos ir katalogo "Klaipėdos (Memel) kraštas: nuo ištakų iki XVII amžiaus" - objektas yra archeologija. XIX a. antrojoje pusėje - XX a. pirmajame ketvirtyje paminklus aktyviai tyrė vokiečių mokslininkai, tarpukariu, tiesa, gana fragmentiškai, - lietuviai, o po Antrojo pasaulinio karo iki dabar - naujos Lietuvos archeologų kartos. Ši paroda (kaip ir katalogas) - pirmoji, skirta Klaipėdos krašto archeologijai, joje eksponuojama visus minėtus tyrimo laikotarpius reprezentuojanti medžiaga. Eksponuojama dalis niekada nerodytų radinių, tokių kaip Kuršių nerijoje ir mariose gilinant farvaterį ir kasant gintarą surinkti gintariniai dirbiniai, Europos istoriografijoje žinomi kaip Juodkrantės (Schwarzort) radiniai, ir daugelis (per šimtą) kitų, kurie, dar prieš kelis dešimtmečius, manyta, buvo prarasti Antrojo pasaulinio karo verpetuose, bet iš tiesų pateko į Vokietijos muziejus. Pagrindinė parodos idėja - per dešimtį temų sukurti nuoseklų pasakojimą apie XIX a. ar dar anksčiau krašto šviesuolių ir mokslininkų pradėtą kurti ir vis dar kuriamą Klaipėdos krašto istoriją ir apie čia gyvenusius žmones.Simboliška, kad šios parodos pasakojimas prasideda plakatu, kuriame iš praeities glūdumos į mus žvelgia gintarinis neolito žmogus, kiek rūsčiu veidu, - vienas iš nedaugelio išlikusių garsiosios Juodkrantės kolekcijos eksponatų, saugomų Getingeno, Georgo Augusto universiteto, Geomokslo centro muziejuje (Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Geowissenschaftliches Zentrum Gewissenschaftliches Museum Göttingen). Jis mums tampa savotišku mediatoriumi tarp senosios ir šių dienų Klaipėdos krašto archeologijos, tarp praradimų ir atradimų, tarp bendradarbiavimo ir užsisklendimo. Pagrindinės parodos temos, kuriomis vystoma parodos idėja, prasideda Klaipėdos krašto archeologinės raidos apžvalga ir baigiasi Klaipėdos piliavietės tyrimais bei protestantiškosios kultūros atspindžiais miesto ir kaimo XV-XVII a. gyvensenoje. Parodos tematika apima bendruomenių pasaulėžiūros ir socialinės raidos atspindžius, laidosenos aspektus, kultūrinius bei prekybinius kontaktus, karybą, iškylančius ir laiko tėkmėje dingstančius galios ir valdžios centrus. Tai buvo galima atskleisti pakvietus bendradarbiauti tuos Lietuvos ir Vokietijos muziejus ir mokslo centrus, kurie turi didesnius ar mažesnius Klaipėdos regiono archeologijos rinkinius. ENThe prehistory and early history of the Klaipėda Region has been little known in the European context, therefore, as we celebrate the Centennial of the Restored State of Lithuania and the European Year of Cultural Heritage, we seek to actualise the rich archaeological heritage of the region and the uniqueness of little-known regions as well as to increase their visibility in the context of the European heritage. In this context, the Klaipėda Region, unique in its prehistory and rich in history, very well reflects one of the directions of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018: cross-border regions and contact areas. [...] The object of the exhibition and the catalogue of our project "The Klaipėda (Memel) Region: from Origins to the17th Century" is archaeology. In the second half of the 19th century - the first quarter of the 20th century, the sites were actively explored by German scientists, in the interwar period, even if fragmentarily, by Lithuanians, and after the Second World War until present, by the new generations of Lithuanian archaeologists. The present exhibition, as well as the catalogue, is the first one devoted to the archaeology of the Klaipėda Region in which the material representing all the aforementioned exploration periods is exhibited. The exhibitions include part of never before exhibited finds, such as amber artefacts found on the Curonian Spit and Lagoon when dredging the waterway and excavating amber and known in European historiography as the Juodkrantė (Schwarzort) Collection, and numerous others (over 100), which several decades ago were believed to have been lost in the whirlwinds of the Second World War, while in fact they had got to German museums.The main idea of the exhibition is, through ten topics, to create a consistent narrative of the history of the Klaipėda Region and the people who lived in it; it was started by intellectuals and scholars of the region in the 19th century, or even earlier, and continues to be developed. Symbolically, the narrative of the exhibition starts with a poster, from which a Neolithic stylised amber man is looking at us from the remote past - one of a few surviving pieces from the famous Juodkrantė Collection, stored in the Geoscience Museum of the University of Göttingen in Germany (Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Geowissenschaftliches Zentrum Geowissenschaftliches Museum Göttingen). For us, it becomes a mediator between the old and the present-day Klaipėda archaeology, between the losses and discoveries and cooperation and seclusion. The main topics of the exhibition through which its idea is conveyed start with an overview of the archaeological development of the Klaipėda Region and end with the excavations of the Klaipėda Castle site and the reflections of the Protestant culture in the 15th - 17th century urban and rural lifestyles. The topics of the exhibition unite and intertwine the subjects of the communities' worldviews and their social development, aspects of burial rites, cultural and trade contacts, warfare, and rule and power centres emerging and disappearing in the flow of time. All that became possible through inviting the museums and science centres of Lithuania and Germany that possessed larger or smaller collections of the archaeology of the Klaipėda Region to collaborate.
