Summary / Abstract:

ENThe Soviet Union and Nazi Germany carried out several acts of occupational colonialism. One of such crimes was the general forced evictions of Lithuanians from the Seinai and Suvalkai region at the beginning of 1941. Following the exile of hundreds of families, the Lithuanians were considerably weakened here, families and relatives were separated. The events of spring 1941 in the beautiful Seinai region of Dzūkija provide us with the uncontested facts that there were forced evictions of Lithuanians that had all the characteristics of exile. Although the Lithuanians of the Seinai region were expelled to Lithuania, which was called by many “Homeland”, this process was painful. Therefore, talking about these events the term exile is used - an exile to the homeland.
