ENIn this chapter we analyse the main functions and meanings of the epistolary discourse of Juozas Tumas-Vaižgantas who was the most prolific letter writer and a very influential mediator in the literary field at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century in Lithuania. To investigate Vaižgantas’ epistolary discourse, we present a strategy for reading the letters as specific narratives that poise between the social and the textual, the public and the private spheres.
