ENThe article presents a short historical review of the activity carried out by the Youth sociology division of Lithuanian Institute of Philosophy and Sociology. It also provides information about the people and the problems they have been analysing in the course of their activity and points out to the main scientific research work directions, such as including youth organizations into social structure of the society and work activity, town and rural inteligensia formation tendencies, etc. Investigation results youth sociological problems have been summarized in individual and collective monographies, article collections and doctorate theses. The author of the article believes that the youth, being and representing the most numerous part of the society, requires most of the attention on the part of sociologists.
