ENIt is particularly important to understand how environmental factors, characteristics of organizations and leaders have a decisive impact on the organization's success in today's Lithuanian business environment. The self-awareness of the organization is likely to create a successful and ongoing activity because paying more attention to the environment in which internal organization operate and factors those firms can respond and remain competitive. The first part presents the scientific literature in terms of strategic management topics. The second part is devoted for the questionnaire survey and interview. The last part presents the study findings and the suggestions. The aim of the final work is to assess the strategic management of the Lithuanian business organizations, to identify the problematic areas and to propose ways for the improvement. After analysing the strategic management situation in the organization, the key factors were determined. The different characteristics of the respondents showed a difference in their impact on perceptions of strategic management and implementation in the organization. The work presented the finding that 80 % of Lithuanian enterprises have a clear strategy but long-term strategic plans are not prepared so for those organizations we offer to prepare a long-term (2 years) strategic plans and clearly articulate the strategic objectives which are understood by ordinary workers and to disseminate them by including in the strategic management process of the organization. The questionnaire survey and interview were conducted by interviewing Lithuanian business organizations managers. This work has a practical value because the results can be applied to Lithuanian private sector organizations which seek to improve their strategic management processes and look for appropriate ways and means.
