LTŠis straipsnis - tai bandymas apžvelgti Holokausto aukų kapų Vilniaus regione padėtį: jų pasiekiamumą, būklę, tvarkybą, kiek įmanoma, lankomumą bei pasiūlyti galimų šių ir kitų Holokausto atminimo vietų istorinio, kultūrinio aktualizavimo perspektyvų. Toks atnaujinimas, po beveik trisdešimties Lietuvos nepriklausomybės metų, mūsų akimis, yra daugiau nei būtinas: visų pirma, dėl viešosios pagarbos dešimtims tūkstančių šiose vietose, kurias užtikrinti yra įsipareigojusi Lietuvos Respublika, palaidotų žmonių. Taip pat dėl Holokausto atminimo kultūros vystymo (tam irgi pasižadėta, Lietuva nuo 2003 m. yra Tarptautinio Holokausto atminties aljanso (IHRA narė), kuris yra neatskiriamas nuo valstybės institucijų dėmesio Holokausto memorialų tvarkybai, šio „tamsiojo“ paveldo pristatymo visuomenei [p. 137].

ENThis article attempts to overview the state of the graves of the Holocaust victims in Vilnius region, specifically, the aspects of accessibility, state, maintenance, and attendance, if possible. Also, perspectives of historical and cultural actualization of these and other Holocaust memorial sites will be suggested. In our opinion, such revitalization after nearly thirty years of Lithuanian independence is more than necessary: first of all, the Republic of Lithuania is committed to securing the public respect for tens of thousands of people buried in these places; second, it is important to develop the culture of Holocaust remembrance (just to remind, since 2003, Lithuania is a member of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA)), which is inseparable from the state institutions’ attention to the management of the Holocaust memorials and the presentation of this “dark” heritage to the public.
