LTLietuvių mokslo kalbos tekstyno sukūrimo tikslas - sukaupti didelės apimties, autentišką lietuvių mokslo kalbos duomenų bazę, kuri galėtų būti naudojama objektyviems, šiuolaikiniams akademinio diskurso kiekybinių ir kokybinių parametrų tyrimams, leistų atskleisti tarpdisciplininius ypatumus, žanrų įvairovės charakteristiką, suteiktų informacijos ir įrodymų apie esamas ar galimas lietuvių mokslo kalbos savitumo / identiteto formavimosi / formavimo / nykimo tendencijas ir suteiktų įrodymų apie veiksnius, įtakojančius aptariamus procesus. Tekstynas sudarytas remiantis pasauline tekstynų kūrimo teorija ir praktika bei laikantis TEI P5 (Text Encoding Initiative) tekstų kodavimo rekomendacijų. Moksliniai tekstai suskirstyti į humanitarinių, socialinių, fizinių, biomedicinos ir technologijos mokslų kryptis pagal Mokslo sričių klasifikatorių, patvirtintą Lietuvos Respublikos švietimo ir mokslo ministro 2007 m. gruodžio 18 d. įsakymu Nr. ISAK-2418. Sukaupti publikuoti leidiniai apima 1999-2009 m. Šiuo metu tekstyną sudaro apie 9 mln. žodžių. CorALit ir jo viešai prieinamas internetinis variantas skirti kalbininkams, pedagogams, mokiniams, studentams, mokslininkams bei visiems gimtakalbiams ir negimtakalbiams vartotojams, kuriems reikia greitos ir efektyvios pagalbos, kai abejojama kokio nors termino reikšme, galimu vartosenos kontekstu, žodžio junglumo galimybėmis arba norima sužinoti žodžio ar termino vartosenos sritį.

ENThe aim of the building of CorAlit is to accumulate a large database of authentic academic Lithuanian texts which could be used for objective studies of quantitative and qualitative parameters of academic discourse, would allow to reveal the interdisciplinary peculiarities and characteristics of genre variety, would give information about the existing or possible trends of the development or loss of the Lithuanian academic identity and provide evidence concerning factors influencing the processes mentioned. Considering its practical application, this corpus is indispensable in teaching and learning of academic writing. The factual material accumulated in the corpus is not created by linguists or just a few researchers, it represents the true linguistic situation and demonstrates the collective intuition and shows the real usage. In order to ensure the representativeness of the corpus of academic Lithuanian it should include texts written in Lithuanian from all the areas, fields and branches of science developed in Lithuania. A detailed analysis of data sources was carried out (internet websites of all Lithuanian publishing houses were investigated, a qualitative analysis of publications and selection according to their research topics and nature was carried out). CorALit and its publicly available internet version provides prompt and effective assistance to linguists, teachers, pupils, students, researchers, all native and non-native users of language when they are in doubt about the meaning of a certain term, possible contexts of its use, collocation possibilities or when they want to find out in which areas the word or term is used. The corpus is the only tool for carrying out reliable modern research as well as preparation of teaching materials and compilation of dictionaries.
