ENWhen Germans occupied Lithuania in 1941, their interference in matters of education was insignificant. At that time schools of Lithuania were getting rid of the Soviet heritage. But later German civil Authority in Lithuania started interfering into schools more and more. The policy of germanization in Lithuania was carried out. Lithuanians opposed that policy and did everything possible to stop germanization of their country. There were two secondary schools and eleven elementary schools in Šiauliai during the German occupation. It was possible to get specialized education at Šiauliai Commerce Institute which was the only higher school in Šiauliai.
