Summary / Abstract:

ENIn the paper an attempt has been made to identify social competence at the disposal of students.The main aim of the paper is to discuss the notion of social competence of students in the light of the results of the questionnaire survey on their social capital. Studies provided the basis for the analysis of the results of the surveys conducted among first-year students of the Faculty of Economics and Management, University of Szczecin, Poland in 2013 and of the Faculty of Politics and Management at the Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius, Lithuania in 2014. A theoretical part of the paper contains a review of literature relating to the discussed issues and description of methodology used in the survey. The empirical part presents results from the survey. The findings of the analysis suggest that respondents have not developed high level of social competence.
