ENThe research objective of the paper is to analyze poverty in Lithuania and to determine its impact on the migration process. The study covered the period 2008–2015, for which the Lithuanian Department of Statistics made calculations of the necessary poverty indicators. The article uses the comparative method of poverty indicators of Lithuania with other EU countries and the inequality of poverty in Lithuania and in the districts. The same method was used to analyze the migration process in Lithuania in comparison with other EU countries and the spatial diversity of migration in Lithuania and in the districts. After the analysis of the data, Pearson’s correlation confirmed the hypothesis of a strong positive correlation between the poverty rates and the migration index for the country and for most districts. Kuznets’ thesis was not confirmed in the course of the research − poverty indicators did not have a similar trend to the Kuznets curve.
