Summary / Abstract:

ENThe article is an important contribution to the research into social life of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania during the great war with Moscow in 1654-1667. An analysis of a source text called Register (Pol. Dziennik) from 1662-1663, which contains complaints and requests of Prince Bogusław Radziwill's subjects addressed to him offers an extremely interesting insight into the relations between the army and civilians in the conditions of a long military conflict. The source text gives a broad array of valuable information about the destruction of economy by both the enemy and the own soldiers, of requisitions of horses, cattle and all food, examples of organised destruction things, and the killing and tormenting of people, etc. A more thorough study of the source text will certainly shed more light on the impact of war on people.
